thoughts: 

I like to think that I didn’t choose the shower, I chose the rag and therein subconsciously I picked the right piece of fiber for the task most on my mind.  It goes without saying that the bathroom is the most private place of the home.  The shower is where we go to wash away the grime from the urban blight.  Its where some of us attempt to wash off shame and regret from compacted decisions made by routines.  Its where we flush out our toxins and attempt to refresh.  And yet, the bathroom is the most dirty and despicable breeding ground for bacteria and dirt there is in an almost metaphorical way.  And the more we ignore the build up, the more it grows and becomes part of the structure.  And some of us acclimate it.  Let it become who we are and lock it behind a door maybe once in a great while overwhelmed by it enough to address it.  The plight of living and being alone doesn’t do us any favors in terms of motivation.  In fact, I often hear from people they need time to clean before someone visits or deny entry to friends out of embarrassment.  But no amount of hiding will ever get that dirt off the skin.  In fact, you commune with it every morning or possibly ever night.  You carry it with you on your skin.  Its aura which shapes an attitude which shapes a pattern of behaviors and choices.  Which echo through you voice with lack of intention, seriousness, and self respect.  And therein, its in those moments kneeling in dirt, grime, shame and indignity that you muster up the motivation to face change.  To shut the door for awhile and focus on the why’s and how’s of the aftermath of day to day.  The endless shedding of skin and growth of bacteria and the cycles therein.  And sometimes in those moments, its nice to have something crafted with a little heart to face that kind of realization head on.
